Description

Mix together the shortening, sugar, and eggs.

Sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda.

Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with the buttermilk.

When blended, add the lemon and orange extracts.

Bake for 1 hour at 350°F in a greased tube pan.

For the glaze, boil the sugar and water for 1 minute, then add the lemon and orange extracts.

Remove the cake from the pan and glaze while hot. The glaze may be doubled for the top and bottom.
